The Importance of Understanding

What we don't understand is that "what we don't understand" is foolish to us because we "don't understand" what we don't understand.

The book of proverbs speaks of two kinds of people, the wise and the foolish. One of the most well known verses of scripture from the book is Proverbs 4:7, which says "Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding."

Wisdom is the ability to live life skillfully in a way that brings honor to the Lord. Along with that ability the Bible urges us to get an understanding. God wants us to comprehend what we learn and apply what we been taught. In other words, God wants us to grasp the meaning of what He says to us. Too many times people walk away from God without understanding what His plan and purpose is for their life. They walk away with no idea of His presence in their situation. Some people lose sight of God's love for them and His unfailing promises. They think that because a situation seems no better today than last month or last year that it's hopeless. But they don't UNDERSTAND that "hope" spoke of in the Bible doesn't imply a wish or a desire; but a confident expectation of a certain outcome planned and purposed by God.

So, you see it really is important to gain an understanding of what you don't understand. Otherwise you're sure to miss out on what God has planned and purposed for your life, and I'm sure you understand that's not a wise thing to do.

Super Bad!

Check this out... God isn't a thug or gangster and would never force Himself on anyone. But he does give us a great suggestion when He says

"Let (allow, permit) this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." Phil 2:5

Yo, think how our words, ideas and conversations could and would change the world if we would change the way we think about life, the world and people starting with ourselves. No doubt that would cause people to change how they think about us, some for the good and some for the bad. But hey, that the life of a true disciple of Christ. I mean everyone didn't like or love Christ right! So, some people gonna hate on us. But that just show were a different person than who we use to be. Because the old me would bring the noise right back at them.

Yea, a new mind and a new way of thinking would change a lot of things in the world. I mean,we'd start to think differently about people and would change the way think about our problems, our drama and everything else. Man, think how our new thoughts would surprise people when when they notice we're talking different because we're thinking different. We'd probably lost a few so-called friends for sure. But, that cool when you consider we would pray for them instead of flame on them, the way we use to do.

Man, think how awesome it would be to hear the young people speak blessings over they're haters instead of falling in line with the world and cursing them out, calling them names and threatening to squash them like a roach!

That would be mind blowing, that would be super bad (meaning good)

PRIORITIES AND PREEMINENCE

Unknowingly, we often chase things that will affect and change our lives in someway. Sometimes the change is for the good, but more often it is for the bad. Over time we begin to go after so many things in the form of possessions, positions, and pleasure that we don't realize or recognize our need for someone to lead us through the maze of life.

We forge ahead into the maze, thinking we know what's really going on, but we're really confused. Thinking we have the answers without realizing we've not heard or understood the questions. Thinking this is just how it is without recognizing it's not how God intended it to be. Thinking nothing is wrong and not understanding that each day things can be better.

Yes, our thinking has taken us to places that our thoughts can't imagine. And our thoughts have lead us blindly into the daylight without ever seeing the Sonlight. They've taken us into the darkness of night without giving us lamp or light. Yes, they've left us groping about in total darkness without God's Divine Sight.

Who can lead us through the maze of dark confusion? Who can help prioritize the elements of our lives? The answer is quit easy and the solution is really the same. It begins with committing your life to Jesus by believing in His name. That's your start to freedom from the darkness of the maze. That's your beginning to bigger and brighter days!

If you've never trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, say this prayer and you can escape the maze and come into the light of His love and life. "Lord God, I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus Christ died for my sins and was raised to life again. I thank you for hearing my prayer and for making me your child and welcoming me into your family. I thank you and love you, in Jesus Name - Amen!

If you said that prayer you are now "spiritually" out of the maze of dark confusion. You are now a part of God's wonderful family. Now you need to find a church family where you can be loved by your brothers and sisters in Christ. Where you can learn and grow in your relationship with the Lord.
